Etosha is also a heaven for 340 bird species. During a brief period each year, as the pan holds water in the summer, flamingos and pelicans are also visiting the park.
Almost all African animal species are represented in the vast Etosha National Park, approximately 22.000 square kilometres in size.
It is estimated that 250 lions, 300 rhinos, 2500 giraffes, 6000 zebras and more than 2000 elephants live in the park.
The springbok are especially numerous (20.000 at least). Very often, you can see them in herds of several hundred animals at the same time.
