  • a sky full of promises

4 December 2002, a total solar eclipse occurred in the north of the Limpopo province in South Africa.

2002 solar eclipse - the sky

Based on long-term weather data and this time of the year (summer) in South Africa, there was a 50 - 60 per cent probability that the sky in the path of totality for this 2002 solar eclipse should be clear for viewing the Sun.

In our case, the sky is full of promises at sunrise, but quickly becomes very cloudy. We start to worry... At least, we can see the baobabs!
